    lips - what to know

    Pre-Care

    Day 2-10 After-Care

    Day of After-Care

    • All above contraindications and pre care apply.
    • If you have EVER experienced a fever blister/cold sore you must contact your physician for a prescription of antiviral to be taken prior to and following lip blushing treatment as advised by your physician. Antiviral will help prevent an outbreak of the dormant virus.
    • Do not have lip filler done 4 weeks prior to lip blushing or 4 weeks after.
    • Be sure to moisturize lips 1 week prior to lip blushing procedure. As well as, exfoliate lips morning and night. This will ensure the skin is suitable to implant pigment.
    • Wear ONLY lip moisturizer to your appointment, Bring along your favorite lip colors to discuss your desired look.

    Day of After-Care

    Day 2-10 After-Care

    Day of After-Care

    • After lip blushing you may have fluid leaking out of your lips. This is your body trying to heal and form a scab. It is important to use a wet cotton round every hour to wipe the fluid from your lips then gently pat dry. After drying gently apply aftercare.
    • To reduce tenderness and swelling it is recommended to ice the lips.
    • Remember to always wash hands prior to caring for your new permanent makeup to ensure ideal healed results.

    Day 2-10 After-Care

    Day 2-10 After-Care

    Day 2-10 After-Care

    • Remember to always wash hands prior to caring for your new permanent makeup to ensure ideal healed results.
    • Flaking is normal, do not disrupt this process by over-wetting the area. Cleanse with a gentle cleanser, pat dry, and continue aftercare ointment.
    • Do not pick, peel, scratch, or bite off flaking. This could cause scarring, pigment loss, or infection. Let the flakes fall off naturally.
    • Avoid harsh cleansers, makeup, chemical peels, microdermabrasion, Botox, filler, UV tanning, sweating, etc while healing.
    • Be sure to use a clean pillowcase and avoid sleeping on your face.

After flaking is completely over you may return to your regular routine. True healed results will not be visible until 6 week post procedure. The lips should heal to look soft and not as crisp as the initial day of procedure. Results will vary by each individual and skin type. More than one session may be required to achieve your desired look.

How do I know which brow procedure is best suited for me?

    - We will discuss which procedure is best suited for your skin type and goals.

    - Microblade is a brow tattoo procedure. Typically, requiring touch up appointments anywhere from 1-2 years. As this brow fades, the line-like hair strokes become less crisp and lighter in color. Conveniently, leaving options for changes in the future years as it fades to adjust color and shape. This procedure is not suited for all skin types.

    - Powder brow is a brow tattoo procedure. This still would require touch up appointments, however, less frequently than microblading. Powder brow can be a more defined look or a soft shadow to the existing brow.

-Hybrid brow is a combination of hair strokes and powder.

-Pixel Shaded Hair Stroke or Manual Nano is a shaded hair stroke method less invasive in comparison to microblade with longer lasting results. Suited for almost all skin types.

    What is the healing process?

    - Day 1  OMG I love my new PMU!

    - Day 2-5  Whoa! This is way too dark. I’m freaking out a bit!

    - Day 5-10  Oh no! Now they’re the wrong shape and flakey!

    - Day 10-15  WTH! My brows are gone!

    - Day 15-30  I see it coming back just a little patchy!

    - Touch up  my PMU  is back and I love it so much!!

    AFTERCARE

o Do not pick or scratch

o Keep them clean! Wash gently with mild cleanser or antibacterial cleanser and pat dry

o Use your aftercare product both sparingly and regularly. When the skin feels dry and tight, its time to cleanse and reapply aftercare

o Do not let scabbing build. If weeping occurs, blot regularly, cleanse and reapply aftercare

o Do not use skincare with active ingredients for 2 weeks

o Avoid working out and excessive sweating for 1 week

o No facials, Botox, laser, or peels for at least 4 weeks

o Avoid direct sunlight/tanning for at least 2 weeks. ALWAYS use SPF on permanent makeup once healed

o Sleep on a clean pillowcase and on your back

o No tweezing/hair removal until brows are fully healed

o If any reaction occurs, see your health care provider

    Does it hurt?

    - A topical lidocaine is used 30 minutes prior to the procedure and during the procedure to make the process more comfortable.

    - Be sure to follow prep instructions for a more comfortable experience.

    Does it look natural?

    - Permanent makeup can look as natural or as bold as desired. However, I (Mallory), prefer to start with more of a modest approach and add to the look as the client becomes more comfortable. Permanent makeup is a long term commitment, we can always add more but removing pigment could be a lengthy process.

How do I know what color?

    - I (Mallory), will walk you through different pigment options to find what best suites your skin tone and your existing brow hair.

    Will it scab?

    - If you follow the healing instructions there should be little to no issues with scabbing. Slightly flakey brows after 5+ days is considered normal. Continue recommended aftercare.

What is the healing like for Lip Blushing?

-Lip Blushing is a procedure most want to plan for. The first day the lips look swollen with a dark lipstick appearance that ultimately fades to a soft color as the healed result to bring life back to the lips. The following days (2-10) will be a process of flaking with mild swelling. Some discomfort is to be expected while healing since this is an area that is constantly moving (eating, drinking, talking, etc)

Can you tattoo the water line for eyeliner?

    - Eyeliner can be close to the water line. However, it is not safe to tattoo the water line.

    Is permanent makeup a tattoo?

    - Yes, permanent makeup is considered a tattoo. Pigment is placed in the skin by a needle. Although, permanent makeup is not the same as a conventional body tattoo. Smaller needles are used and the pigments are made differently compared to conventional tattoo ink.

Will the COVID 19 vaccine affect the procedure?

    - It is unknown if the vaccine could affect the procedure. However, it is recommended to wait two weeks after receiving any vaccine to proceed with permanent makeup. As well as, wait two weeks after permanent makeup before receiving any vaccine.

    Will botox affect my brows?

    - Yes, be sure your botox has settled for at least two weeks prior to brow appointment. Botox can affect the alignment of your brows.

Can I have permanent makeup done while pregnant or breastfeeding?

    - No. There is simply not enough information on how this could affect baby. It is better to always keep the baby safe and wait to proceed with permanent makeup. It is against protocol and not covered by insurance to proceed with permanent makeup while pregnant or breastfeeding.
